The Pit is a area under Voya Nui where people who have done bad things are held prisoner.
History[]
A long time ago the Order of Mata Nui created The Pit in a dome south of the Southern Islands to house the worst criminals in the Matoran Universe. Hydraxon was hired as a jailer and his pet Spinax and several Maxilos robots for defense. Over the next centuries The Pit became home to dozens of criminals including the Barraki, Nocturn, Tuyet and dozens others. After the Great Cataclysm, water rushed in from the ocean outside and The Pit was flooded and it's prisoners escaped into the ocean beyond and were mutated and Hydraxon was killed. The Pit became home to sea Rahi and Zyglak and was avoided over the next mellenia. When the Toa Mahri came looking for the Ignika they clashed with the Barraki around several areas around The Pit. After Voya Nui returned to it's original position on the Southern Continent The Pit was drained and it's prisoners recaptured. After Teridax's death the inhabitants of The Pit were relocated to Spherus Magna.
Geography[]
The Pit consisted of a massive dome lined with prison cells and chambers. During the Great Cataclsym The Pit was damaged and flooded but was later drained.
Inhabitants[]
The Pit was home to several hundred prisoners including the Barraki, Nocturn, several Skakdi and the war leaders of the Matoran Civil War and Roodaka.
